Visual Arts

Welcome to the Visual Art Department at Mairehau High School. “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” ― Pablo Picasso

We believe that every student has the potential to be a great artist; Art Education affirms and celebrates unique artistic expressions of self, community, and culture. It is important that every Mairehau High School student has a sense of self and personal identity and the Art room is the perfect place to develop these skills.

The Visual Arts develop students’ conceptual thinking. Learning in, through, and about the Visual Arts stimulates creative action and response by engaging and connecting thinking, imagination, senses, and feelings.
